Lambert’s probiotic Acidophilus Extra 4 capsules are a non-dairy product and contain 4 billion (at the time of manufacture) beneficial live bacteria. The capsules contain the most studied strains of bacteria – Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus.

There are billions of bacteria in our digestive system, most of which are safe. However, pathogenic bacteria can gain a predominance of good bacteria due to stress, travel, illness, changes in eating habits, or the use of antibiotics. To maintain this balance, it is common practice to take capsules (probiotics) that contain beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus.

There is growing evidence that intestinal microbial imbalances may be associated with diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). As a result, there is an increased awareness of the role of the microbiota (a set of all microorganisms) in maintaining health, and research in this area has increased significantly.

Special Delayed Release (DR) capsules have been used to encapsulate the good bacteria of the Lamberts Probiotic Acidophilus Extra 4. After swallowing the capsule, it is important to ensure that the beneficial bacteria survive in the acidic environment of the stomach and that as many of the bacteria as possible reach the small and large intestines. The acidic conditions of the stomach have a destructive effect on good bacteria, and in order to minimize the effect of acid on live bacteria, they are encapsulated in DR or prolonged release capsules. This means that more bacteria reach the lower part of the gut, where they begin to grow and multiply. The capsules are made of vegetable cellulose and have three times less moisture than regular gelatin capsules.

All Lamberts probiotic capsules are packaged in a high-quality pot that keeps light and moisture away from the capsules as live bacteria are killed by moisture. The inner wall of the jar is covered with a special moisture-absorbing lining, which removes all moisture from the jar and prevents the contents of the capsule from being destroyed.
